Many people that enjoy guns and shooting prefer to stick with the less expensive plastic or metal toy pistols. Airsoft pistols are manufactured to provide the operator with the feel and authenticity of a real weapon; with the accuracy and shooting options found on actual pistols. To top it all off these pistols really do look and fire like the real thing, which is always a plus in any gaming situation.

Airsoft pistols come in three types or categories. These include spring, gas and electric. Each type of pistol has its own pros and cons and it is really up to the individual to decide which model type is best suited to their gaming needs. As with any type of product, there is a wide price range within each type.

Spring pistols are the easiest to operate and maintain since they don’t rely on either gas or batteries. The mechanism works just like a real gun with a cocking mechanism that causes the BB’s to fire. It is literally a cock and shoot option, which means you always have the option to shoot. With gas or electric there is always the possibility of needing to insert a new gas canister or batteries, but definitely not so with spring loaded pistols. These pistols can range in price; however they are all very accurate and very realistic in appearance.

Electric Airsoft pistols operate on batteries, most use 4 AAA batteries that are purchased separately from the gun. There are also options to use rechargeable batteries and Airsoft sells battery recharging units that are compact and easy to use. All electric Airsoft pistols, like those that are spring load, are going to be made of heavyweight plastic that looks and feels just like metal and wood, making for a very realistic weapon both to handle and to see in action. The more expensive models are some of the fastest shooting pistols in use today in the world of gaming.

The higher end of the scale includes the Airsoft pistols that operate on gas canisters. These realistic looking models can be the most expensive; however there are some very accurate and very realistic gas pistols at reasonable prices. These guns often fire the larger sized BBs and are very accurate even at long distances. These guns are powered by pressured gas that comes in a variety of types from standard propane to the deluxe “green gas” cylinders. As always there is additional care required for handling the gas however it is considered very safe as long as the responsible precautions are followed. As with any type of pressurized gas, this is not typically a weapon that is appropriate for children or even young adults unless supervised by an adult.

As with the use of any type of Airsoft pistol, safety gear is always recommended for those using Airsoft pistols and those around Airsoft pistols. This includes items such as eye goggles or safety glasses. Other gear and accessories to include with Airsoft pistols are silencers, flash hiders, holsters and magazines. Gun cases and holders are also a great option to help keep your Airsoft pistols and other gaming weapons looking like new when not in use.

Most cheap airsoft guns come in the form of spring powered. However, even if yours come in the form of electric or gas powered, their cleaning method is actually same with the spring powered one virtually. It is very important to clean your airsoft guns regularly in order to keep them functioning well for a long time. People usually encounter problems with their guns because they do not maintain them well.

The first process of cleaning cheap airsoft guns is cleaning the exterior. First of all, you have to remove the battery and gas tank, if it is relevant. Next, you should clean the gun by wiping it. A cotton swab should be used on the grit.

The next process of cleaning your cheap airsoft guns is to clean the magazine. You can do this by removing the magazine from the gun and wiping it with a cloth. Make sure the cloth is clean. For smaller or more intricate areas, you should use cotton swabs to clean them. Apply a few drops of oil on all parts and this is inclusive of springs. Finally, return the magazine to the gun.

The third process of cleaning your cheap airsoft guns is cleaning the barrel. First, you have to turn off the gun’s hopper system is there is one. Use a .22 caliber cleaning patch with a cleaning rod and add very little silicon spray to the patch. Next, you have to insert rod into barrel and the inside of the barrel should be swabbed with an in and out motion with care. Rod is then removed from barrel and the wet patch has to be replaced with a dry one. These steps (inserting rod into barrel and swabbing the inside of the barrel with an in and out motion carefully) should be repeated.

Cleaner cheap airsoft guns can perform better and this is actually good news because every airsoft guns owner wants a gun with better accuracy, reliability and quicker shooting rate.

If you are just starting out in airsoft, you may be wondering what equipment you should purchase to ensure that you are prepared. Many airsoft players get started by purchasing the essentials and then building out their airsoft collections by adding multiple types of guns, accessories and gear over time. If you are playing for the first time, you may want to borrow airsoft guns and gear if possible to make sure the sport is for you. If you love playing airsoft and are ready to invest in your own airsoft guns and gear, congratulations! Airsoft is an exciting, adrenaline charged sport that promotes camaraderie and gives players a taste of combat in a safe environment.

While many players slowly build up a collection of airsoft guns and equipment, others take the full plunge and purchase every gun and accessory that seems appealing from the start. The latter approach certainly will not hurt if money is no concern, but this is not the case for many airsoft players who are just getting started. If you are on a limited budget, you may want to invest in these essentials up front, and later purchase items such as extra guns, scopes, and tactical vests that you may want down the line:

Safety Goggles: Eye protection is absolutely required for any airsoft skirmish, so purchasing a quality pair of safety goggles that fits you well should be a worthwhile investment. Just any safety goggles, such as those used for power tool operation or skiing, will not do. Shopping for goggles on reputable airsoft websites will help ensure that the safety goggles you purchase are suitable for protecting you from injury by airsoft fire. Before you buy, be sure to find out if the field you will be playing most often has requirements on the type of eye protection that must be worn.

Airsoft Gun: An airsoft gun is a necessary purchase when you are investing in airsoft equipment of your own. The right airsoft gun to buy depends on your budget and personal preferences. Hopefully you have some friends or fellow airsoft players who will let you try out their guns to get a feel for your preferences. Researching different types and models online can be helpful, but nothing beats trying one out! If testing out a few guns is not an option, talking to fellow airsofters about what brands and models they like and why will give you some excellent insight into the factors that are important in choosing the right airsoft gun.

BBs: Obviously you will need ammunition before you enter a skirmish, but be sure that you get the right kind of BBs for your gun. BBs are available in different sizes, and using the right type is essential to the longevity of your gun. For more information about choosing the right BBs for your gun, check out What kind of BBs are right for my airsoft gun?

Camouflage clothing/BDUs: Okay, so a set of BDUs is not a necessity to be able to play airsoft, but is worth mentioning since most players will be dressed in camouflage for the game. Wearing camouflage will help during a skirmish because it can help you avoid being spotted by opponents. Many players also like the fact that wearing realistic military attire contributes to the realism of the game.

Getting some field experience in a few skirmishes and interacting with other players will undoubtedly expose you to new guns and equipment, so you may want to start out by purchasing the essentials to get a feel for what else you would like to add to your airsoft collection. When you are deciding what to buy, do not underestimate the power of talking with experienced airsoft enthusiasts, who will more than likely be thrilled to discuss the different aspects of airsoft equipment with you!

There are several reasons why you should think about joining an airsoft related forum. Most importantly, it is awesome to be part of a community, especially one that has many of the same interests that you have. For the sport of airsoft, it is logical that the best place to go is an airsoft forum. Some forums have hundreds of thousands of participants, meaning that you will never have a problem finding people that you like, and that is definitely great.

There are types of airsoft forums, as some of them are focused solely on this subject, while it takes a backseat in other forums. If you are really into this game, there is no reason to settle for a forum that is inferior to one that is focused on what you really care about. I know for a fact there are at least three awesome forums out there, and in general, there are millions of smaller forums. You might as well take a little time to find one that you would really like, as in many cases, you will end up staying at the same place for a long time. I know there are some forums I have been a part of for years, and the more you stay with the same forum, the more you become attached to it.

There are plenty of ways to find a quality website to join. The quickest way is to just do a Google search with the phrase “airsoft forum”, and a list will come up with the best in the business. Through Google’s PageRank algorithm, higher quality sites come up in the rankings first, so you do not even need to do much looking around. What you do in the end is your decision, and if you wanted, you could go searching through even the smallest airsoft forums, as being part of a less populated community does have its benefits.

Airsoft, like paintball, is a sport usually played outdoors and can be dangerous. So getting the right equipment so that you are prepared to play, and kept safe is important. Let’s go over some of the gear that can really take your airsoft play to the next level.

Face Mask

Arguably the most valuable protection gear in airsoft, the face mask will serve to protect your eyes and face from injury by airsoft BBs and other obstructions in the bush. A full face mask is recommended, however as a minimum you should have the goggles in order to protect your eyes. Losing an eye in an airsoft game would just be senseless.

Tactical Vest

For mil-sim games, the tactical vest will serve as your carry on in the field. Getting a tactical vest with many pockets for storing extra clips, BB rounds, flashlights, knives, radios and perhaps even a snack is worth its weight in gold. Also, with higher end vests, the thick material and supplies you are carry will serve to help protect you from getting hit and perhaps hurt from an enemy player.

Holsters

Depending on your intents, there are lots of holsters to choose from. For mil-sims, a leg holster might be the preferred holster, due to the player already having a tactical vest, and not able to handle an additional load on his shoulders. But for police training, a shoulder holster is ideal, providing not only a holster for the airsoft pistol, but also a compartment for additional clips, etc on the other shoulder. When combined with a belt holster, the police trainee can store that extra sidearm that may be necessary in an advanced situation training session.

About the Author

When it comes to the military, police, and other groups who serve and protect, there is a lot of equipment that needs to be considered. Tactical equipment is the equipment that is used by these groups – whether it is guns, ammunition, helmets, belts, armor, and other types of equipment.

Green gas is basically no more than propane. Many gas airsoft rifles and pistols use green gas as their propellant. These airsoft guns are the most powerful suite of airsoft guns. Although propane is flammable, it is usually no more dangerous than many common hairsprays and refrigerants. These green gas canisters come in aerosol cans, just like hairspray.

Green gas is often tagged as a haz mat (hazardous material) when it comes to shipping and delivery. Therefore many stores do not stock it. However, it can be found online, and a small canister might sell for around $20-$40. But again, the shipping will be higher, so make sure that you buy some other airsoft products, to help balance out the costs. This may seem costly, but one small can of green gas can last for many, many refills of your airsoft gun. If you want cheap airsoft guns, you probably aren’t interested in green gas guns. Green gas airsoft guns are the high end airsoft guns, and you will be paying more for them. If you want cheap airsoft guns, consider going with spring powered airsoft guns or electric airsoft guns.

Green gas gives the most lifelike action of any of the airsoft products available to date. Especially when combined with a blowback gun, the firing experience will have a loud sound, as well as a kick when the slide or hammer is engaged. Often this will be combined with an automatic reloading of the airsoft gun. Thus, you can have semi-automatic or fully automatic gas airsoft pistols and guns.

It is important to note that while green gas is basically propane, green gas includes some additives that help keep the seals and other parts of the airsoft gun in good working order. So if you are thinking of using your own propane instead of certified green gas, it’s ok, just know that you’ll need to grease up the moving parts of your airsoft gun.

So when it comes to having mil sims or law enforcement simulations, using green gas with gas airsoft guns is the most lifelike combination. These airsoft guns normally have just as much weight as the real thing, use full metal, are high powered, and when used with heavier BBS (like .2g or .25g) can be extremely accurate, even at longer ranges. So if realism is your fancy, you will want to go with green gas and gas powered airsoft guns.

King of the Hill is a fun airsoft game with the goal of controlling of a predetermined area marked by a flag. Usually, the marked area being defended is a hill – hence the name of the game – but the game can be played with most any area designated as the hill. The hill or other area being guarded should be a somewhat open area that is not overly easy to defend.

In King of the Hill, players are divided into two groups – attackers and defenders. The defenders start out positioned around the flag, which they will defend while the attackers attempt to take over the territory. The game is played with a time limit, usually about fifteen minutes or half an hour, but can be any timeframe as dictated by the game organizer. The team with members closest to the flag is considered to have control of the hill, and the team that has control of the flag upon expiration of the allotted time is the winner.

Defenders of the hill shoot the attackers with airsoft guns in attempt to protect the hill, while attackers do the same to take out opponents and seize control of the hill. Usually in a game of King of the Hill, players who are hit are required to stay out of the game and remain silent until the next round begins. Or, players may be permitted to reenter the match after a certain amount of time has passed, depending on the rules set forth by the organizer of the match.

As with other airsoft game types, the rules and scenarios vary among different fields and organizations. If you are participating in a King of the Hill match, be sure you know the guidelines put forth by the organizer. As always, be safe, play fair and have fun!

The most popular arena for ghillie suits is by far the paintball and airsoft fields. The production of ghillie suits reflects that trend in that most of the newest innovations are geared toward paintball use. The newer suits are lighter, more durable, and provide more mobility than the older and heavier models. In the past , ghillie suits outside of the military applications, were built with hunters in mind.

Many of them were one piece affairs that covered the entire body from head to toenail. They were and still are great for still-hunting, but they didn’t lend themselves well to a lot of movement; especially fast movement. The newer suits don’t forget the hunter’s needs, as you can now get them with multiple pockets. Great for extra shells and snacks. Most of the new ones are two-piece affairs giving the user the option of being completely covered or just the upper body covered. That should appeal to anyone hunting from a blind. Blinds now come in ghillie material too. A turkey-hunter behind a ghillie blind with a ghillie jacket on is in turkey-hunter heaven.

Hunters and paintballers aren’t the only users of ghillie suits. A wildlife photographer or researcher is going to get amazingly close to his subjects if he/she sets up in a ghillie blind and wears at least a ghillie jacket and hood.

The majority of birders ply their craft in ordinary street clothes. True, they can see a lot of birds using their binoculars. Those that choose to camouflage with a ghillie suit can, with a little patience see even more birds and quite often not need the binoculars at all.

Then we have yet another group making use of the ghillie suit. The social set is well represented among ghillie fans at costume parties and Halloween is a prime time for ghillie suits with users checking in at all ages. A word of warning to golfers. That is most likely not “Bigfoot” after your lost balls so don’t shoot. It’s probably a neighborhood kid in a ghillie suit.

Careless use of an airsoft gun can not only cause injuries, it can break the gun and void its warranty. In addition to protecting yourself and others when dealing with airsoft guns, taking proper care of guns is a responsibility that should be taken seriously. Some of the precautions that should be taken to prevent damage and increase the longevity of your airsoft guns may not be obvious. Following manufacturer recommendations as well as these tips is advised:

Use the right BBs. Note that BBs are available in different sizes and weights, and using the wrong type can cause damage to a gun. Most airsoft guns use 6mm BBs, but check your owner’s manual to be sure you are using the correct BBs for each of your guns. We recommend polished, high-grade, seamless BBs.

Use the correct battery charge time for each gun. The batteries that power airsoft electric guns (AEGs) are sensitive and have specific requirements for the amount of time they are to be charged. Standard chargers do not have a chip that tells them to stop charging when the battery is full, as smart chargers do. Be sure that you know the correct charge time for each of your guns, and do not exceed it.

Only cock a spring airsoft gun once per shot. Spring airsoft guns, also known as “cock and shoot” airsoft guns, are designed to be cocked once before shooting one BB. Cocking a spring gun more than once can lead to internal damage and a voided warranty.

Load BBs correctly. Loading BBs incorrectly is another mistake that can lead to damage to your gun and a voided warranty. The correct procedure for loading BBs varies from gun to gun, so be sure to follow the recommendations from the manufacturer of your gun.

Do not disassemble your gun. Doing so can void your warranty, and could cause permanent damage to the gun.

Airsoft guns are made of many moving parts, and often endure wear and tear during skirmishes. For these reasons, parts may need to be repaired or replaced on occasion. Taking care of your guns and adhering to all manufacturer recommendations can promote a longer life and more play time for your guns.

With so many different designs available on the market today, it can be frustrating finding the right airsoft gun for your needs; so if you’re interested in purchasing one, it could save you a lot of time and frustration to narrow down your search to electric airsoft guns. There is still a wide enough variety of these types in terms of shooting accuracy and power (and price) that you’re bound to find the right one. Also, the option to choose between semi and fully automatic models provides you with a comprehensive selection of submachine guns, assault rifles, and pistols. The types of activities for which you plan to use an airsoft gun should establish the type of electric airsoft gun you need.

In order to make the most cost effective decision, it is crucial to base your airsoft gun purchase on factors such as functionality, RPM, FPS, and upkeep (among other things) since you’ll need an airsoft gun with capabilities that suit the purpose for which it’s going to be used.

Different shooting activities warrant different types of guns. For example, if you simply want to practice shooting cans from a distance, you’ll likely be satisfied with a cheaper pistol or spring rifle; but for the more intense airsoft games like military simulation, you’d be far better off with a more costly high-precision electric gun.

Making an uneducated purchase can seriously affect your shooting performance regardless if you are participating in shooting games or merely practicing your hand-eye coordination. You need to be absolutely sure the gun you pick is a good choice for your needs.

Despite the variety available, all electric types have battery powered motors and high capacity magazines as well as instantaneous firing response. All of these advantages make these perfect for combat simulation games. Electric airsoft guns also come in both rifles and pistols.

If you’re looking for an electric rifle, the three main categories are low power, mid power, and automatic electric guns (a. K. A. LPEGs, MPEGs, and AEGs). LPEGs are ideal beginner rifles as the plastic gearboxes found on LPEGs use much less power than metal gearboxes and also require batteries and a charger. MPEGs are full sized electric rifles with metal gearboxes and are one step above the low powered variation.

Automatic electric guns are the product of choice for seasoned airsoft shooters and games participants. Skilled shooters can appreciate the all-metal components and fully automatic capabilities of these electric machine guns. There is also a wide range of extremely accurate and powerful electric pistols.

One thing you shouldn’t do is base your purchase on price alone. Regardless of your budget, you don’t want to end up purchasing a product that does not meet your needs, so make sure you prioritize purpose above price. A good point to remember is the higher the price, the higher the quality of the gun in terms of power. The most cost effective way to select the right electric airsoft gun for you is to decide on all of the features you require and then make a budget-fitting selection from the types and models that fit the description.
