If you have ever found yourself in an airsoft war, and been corned or had a need for a short range weapon that you didn’t need to aim much, then you are probably needing an airsoft shotgun. Airsoft shotguns take away the need for precision aiming, and give you a great advantage in close range trench type warfare. And we all know, when you are involved in a military simulation, anything and everything might happen. That is the whole goal, to make things as realistic as possible, and you never know what the enemy is going to do.
So let us take a look at some of the features of this great toy weapon. As we have already seen, this gun is good at close range military simulations, but how do they actually work? Well, they are typically spring powered airsoft guns, and they operate as traditional pump action shotguns. They usually fire somewhere between 3 and 6 bbs per trigger pull, and give the spread that you will need when you don’t have time to aim. There are tube fed and clip fed versions of airsoft guns to choose from.
Airsoft shotguns can be equipped with additional features, such as tactical flashlights, laser dot scopes and fully optical scopes. Because of the advantage of not having to aim, scopes may not be as much of an appeal. But do not stop there, you can also use masking tape to iron out a pattern, and then spray paint your toy weapon to give it a camouflaged look, or whatever pattern you may choose. You may also want to get a strap for the shotgun of your choice, after you have the other desired accessories.
Think about the typical military simulation for just a moment. The weight and bulkiness of your gear is going to play a role in how well you are going to be able to maneuver on the field of play. So things like the length of time the game is to be played, and the size of the field of play are all factors in whether or not a shotgun is going to be of any value. If you are defending, this may well be exactly what you want. So take a little time, and consider it. If you are going to running a lot and need high maneuverability, you may want to go with an airsoft pistol. But if an airsoft sidearm doesn’t suit you, try its cousin, the airsoft shotgun.
